What’s Ahead for the SPAC Market in 2025
In this episode of The SPAC Podcast, Caitlyn Van Valin, Vice President at Odyssey Trust, shares her outlook for the SPAC market over the remainder of the year.
With Odyssey working on half of all active SPACs, Caitlyn provides a unique perspective on the pipeline. She notes that while SEC turnaround times have created a temporary bottleneck, the backlog of filed S-1s points to a very active Q3 and Q4.
Her forecast? September and October will be “absolutely bananas”, with no one on the Odyssey team taking PTO as the wave of IPO activity hits.

You said you’re working on half the SPACs in the market. Where do you see things going for the rest of the year?
Caitlyn Van Valin:
It’s interesting, we have a really heavy pipeline of awarded or mandated SPACs that just haven’t IPO’d yet. A lot of it comes down to SEC turnaround times, which have been slower than expected. That’s created a bit of a bottleneck.
But looking ahead, I think we’re going to see a big surge in Q3. Many SPACs filed their S-1s 30–60 days ago and are right at the point where they need to price. The SEC is now coming back with final comments, so I expect September and October to be absolutely bananas.
And yes, nobody at Odyssey is taking PTO during that wave.
